Little Guys

So just this afternoon, I was waking Caiden up from his nap. We had a nice conversation while getting him into a clean diaper and some jeans for play-time this afternoon. It went something like this:

"You know what I like the most about you little guys, Caiden? It's that you just wanna do whatever you wanna do. You wanna get up? You get up. You wanna run and empty all those toys outta the basket? Go for it. Hungry? Eat. Tired? Sleep. There's nothing in the way at your age. No responsibilities, no worries, and not a fear to be found. Just do what feels right. There's no tomorrow to worry about. You don't even know what 'tomorrow' means. That's awesome!"

That boy did me a great favor, teaching me how to live in the moment there for a moment. Of course, then I had to go downstairs and make him lunch, check in with work, file an expense report, review a presentation and create a strategic plan for a major feature in an enterprise software application. Maybe his lesson only lasted a few seconds, but it was worth it.

For just a minute, I forgot all about all those other things and just tickled his feet before I put his socks on.

Thanks Caiden.
