Last night I took my first aromatherapy class! There is a shop not far from me that I occasionally frequent - O'Malley & Potter. For you local folks - they're located in the Bothell Country Village. Anywho, I am on the mailing list for this shop, and I often see they're offering classes. Most of the classes are out of my price range or the timing is inconvenient. But finally, I spotted a class that looked interesting, was priced just right and that I could make it to! My friend Heather agreed to join me which would make it that much more fun! :)
In this class we learned about rose, vanilla, jasmine, lavender, ylang ylang, may chang, atlas cedar, sandalwood, and one or two others I think I am forgetting about. The instructor spoke a little bit about how essential oils are captured and shared some information on the healing powers of the oils. In the last hour of the class we got to experiment with making our own blends from the oils listed above and eventually created our own scented massage oil! It was so much fun! Heather created an amazingly fresh and invigorating blend, but her blend ended up being top secret! :) My blend included rose, lavender, vanilla and jasmine. I was pretty pleased with how it turned out.
Heather and I were inspired to buy many of the oils we used in the class, and we are planning to get together and make some bath salts with them. I am so excited to try this out!! :D
