BIG Stretch

Seems our little guy got caught stretching out in the wrong direction while he was napping. How could I NOT snag a photo of this? (Photo creds go to Aunt Cathy!)

First Steps!

Today is a momentous day for our tiny little super guy - he took his first steps today! (That was his birthday gift to you Aunt Tara!) I was in the kitchen while B was hanging out with Caiden in the family room. Out of the blue, Caiden turned towards B and took a few steps all on his own! I'm a little sad to have missed the "official" first steps, but I am so glad B got to see it!!!

I settled down on the floor and made B tell me 2 more times how it happened. :) We made some space between us on the floor to see if Caiden would make a repeat performance and he did! Over and over and over again! He was just so darn proud of himself and eager to practice more and more! He had the biggest grin on his little face and was so excited to be walking back and forth between us! What a perfect day to have dressed him in his "Mr. Independent" shirt. :D

I just love the way his arms are up over his head as he toddles back and forth. He is so cute as he works to keep his balance! Check out the video below to see it for yourself!

And the Winner Is.....

It's official. After months of "uh ohs," Caiden has grown his spoken vocabulary and chosen to name one of his parents. B and I have been working for months in teaching Caiden Mama and Dada and all the effort has paid off! Beginning this past weekend, Caiden has started saying.....

(You'll have to watch the video to find out!)

Boys Will Be Boys

I was going to post an entry last week about how I came up to find Caiden protesting his nap in nothing more than his shirt and diaper. See, Caiden's normal protest takes the form of flinging everything from his crib onto the floor and then complaining vociferously that he has nothing to amuse himself with. The normal routine is to first fling the pacifier out (which is usually followed up with an "uh oh!"). Next go the blanket(s), and if it is bedtime, Monkey and Froggie get tossed out to join the fray on the floor. Well, on Tuesday LAST week, I came into his room and found not only the usual suspects littering the floor, but his jammie bottoms were there as well!! I did a double take at first wondering if I forgot to put them on him after I changed his diaper. Soon enough, I spotted them on the floor in the midst of everything else he flung out. So that was funny enough, right? Well....this week takes the cake!!

Lemme start with telling you that it is HOT here this week. And without A/C we have to take extreme measures sometimes to keep cool. I stripped Caiden down to nothing but his diaper for his afternoon nap, and well, I guess Caiden decided to take things one step further. After listening to a few minutes of protest, I opened up the door to his room and saw this:

Followed by this:

I just stood there for a moment and looked at him. Then the floor. Then back at Caiden. And promptly burst out laughing and made a mad dash for the camera. I should have just brought the camera up first thing, because I had a sneaking suspicion that I could walk in on this very scene!! What a stinker! LOL!
