Mama's Kitchen Helper

Based on some great advice from friends, we've been trying to get Caiden more interested in dinner by actually having him help prepare the meal! And aiding the whole process, Summer, Reid and Eddie gave him his very own apron for his birthday!

So tonight Caiden was a very good helper for me in the kitchen. He helped me count out the noodles for the lasagna and add them to the boiling water. He then helped to stir them while they were in the pot. Then he helped me stir up the ground turkey and add the sauce. A little while later he did a great job helping me layer up the lasagna and he was solely in charge of placing the cheese!

After we finished the lasagna he helped me make the zucchini/tomato dish. He watched while I chopped up the veggies and then he helped me wash and dry the mint. Finally, we took turns stirring it all together while it cooked on the stove!

I am taking the opportunity to teach him names for kitchen items, and he is learning to never ever touch pans that are on the stove. He repeatedly reminds me that fire is hot and he likes to watch the flames on the burner. I really enjoy having him help out in the kitchen, and he seems to love it too!!
