Ezra is Two Months!

Once again, I find myself lamenting the passage of time. I can't believe Ezra is over two months old already! We just went to our 2 month appointment and his doctor continues to be pleased with his progress! Here are his latest stats:

Weight: 14 lbs, 1/2oz (up 2 lb, 9 oz since his last appt)
Height: 24 in - he's two feet now!
Head: 16 in

He is in the 90th percentile for both height and weight, and 75th for head circumference. That is one happy and healthy baby! :) He is still quite the little spitter, but clearly that isn't affecting his weight gain. He is also doing really well with his naps and overnight sleeping. Most nights he goes to bed around 10 or 11 and sleeps for 6-7 hours. He wakes up and nurses and then generally goes right back to sleep for another 4-6 hours. For awhile he would wake up for the feeding and stay awake for a couple hours, but it looks like he is figuring out that he needs to go right back to sleep after eating. Whew! He is also right on target for the Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child guidelines. He will have wakeful periods between naps that last no more than 2 hours. He is generally pretty ready for a nap at the end of that wakeful period and goes down fairly easily. And his naps have generally been in the ballpark of 2-4 hours depending on the time of day. So far I consider us lucky for having a good sleeper up to this point!

My favorite thing about this age is that he is starting to smile at us! He usually has the most grins for us in the morning when he wakes up. He will just smile and grin non-stop as he stretches his arms and legs out. I have yet to capture a really good smile on camera, but I am ever on the look out for the opportunity!

We are continuing to help him spend more time on his tummy, which sometimes he likes and sometimes he hates. He also enjoys sitting in his papasan chair and is starting to like the swing a little bit more. I think that now his vision and focus is getting a little better he is able to better enjoy the mobile that is over his swing. He also enjoys looking at himself in the mirror.

We had some great visitors this month! The Beckers came over our anniversary weekend, and B and I got out and enjoyed a lovely night out at the Melting Pot. My wonderful friends Summer and Kristi both came and spent some time with us this month! I haven't seen Kristi in over a year and a half, so it was great that she could meet Ezra and for us to spend some time catching up. And this was Summer's first time meeting Ezra too! She flew out this past Thursday and spent the weekend with us. We had so much fun hanging out, baking and shopping. I so love spending time with these amazing women and wish they both lived closer!

Caiden continues to behave really well with Ezra. He likes to show him toys and help him hold things. He also likes to come in and say hi to Ezra after he wakes up from a nap. Speaking of naps, one of the hardest things for me right now is to get out of the house during the day. If we don't have a specific appointment that requires attendance, we stay in so that the boys can get their naps in. And with Ezra in such a narrow window of wakeful periods, it is really difficult to get out and do something even as simple as going to the store. I know I bring a lot of this upon myself because I refuse to wake a sleeping baby or drag him out of the house when I know it is close to nap time. Unfortunately this also means Caiden is stuck in the house most days, which can drive the two of us (him and me) a little insane some days. But I hope to remedy that by having more of his friends over for play dates once or twice a week. That way I don't have to drag Ezra out of the house, Caiden can get some much needed entertainment, and I can socialize with my mom friends. It's still hard not being able to run a bunch of errands in the mornings, but I keep telling myself it won't be this way forever. And I am ever more thankful for being in a bigger house!!

So I think that about covers it for what's been going on in Ezra's world this second month of his life! I've also added a bunch of photos to his share site for your viewing pleasure. :)
