Over Memorial Day weekend we were treated to a fantastic visit from my sister Cathy, or "Aunt Caffy" as Caiden liked to say. :) We had such a great time during her visit! We didn't have a whole heck of a lot planned this time around, and for the first time ever, the weather was distinctly uncooperative during Cathy's stay. She got in late Thursday night, and we were very good about not staying up even later to chat!
On Friday morning, Cathy joined Caiden and me for my 28 week ultrasound where she got to see a sneak peek of Baby D! We laid kinda low the rest of the day, but stayed up into the wee hours with some great discussions and lively debates!
The next day, Cathy managed to talk B into talking a walk into town to visit the Woodinville Farmer's Market. Due to my "delicate" condition I begged off, but played rescue vehicle to them so that they didn't have to walk back quite as far. Later that evening, I introduced Cathy to one of my favorite restaurants - Marrakesh. She had never tried Moroccan before, and she really enjoyed it! We were even there on a belly dancer night which made it all the more fun! :D
On Sunday, we all trekked down to the Folklife Festival for music and fabulous people watching. Caiden and B hung out with us for a little while before heading home to get C down for his nap. Cathy and I stayed for a little while longer at the fest and then hopped the monorail to downtown and visited the market. After picking up some yummy treats (a new ring for me), we hopped the bus back to the Eastside. Rob came over in the evening for a long overdue visit and we had lots of fun hanging out with him. :)
Monday was her last full day here and it had become pretty evident that Caiden was quite smitten with her. Normally he shouts out "Mama!" when he hears me coming down the stairs in the morning. But now when he heard me coming down (and if Cathy was still upstairs), he started shouting AUNT CAFFY AUNT CAFFY!!!!!! How easily I am replaced. LOL! That was another day we spent just hanging out and of course it went by all too fast. Before we knew it, Tuesday morning had come and it was time to take her back to the airport. The one saving grace for us both was that saying goodbye wasn't quite so rough because we were going to see each other at my godson Eddie's baptism that weekend! Altho as soon as Caiden started crying for her as we were pulling away, the tears started flowing for me too. :( I certainly do look forward to the days when saying farewell no longer means months between visits.
