My most recent visit to Seattle, this July 2009 was a great time. My flight took me directly there (no detour to LA for a night like last time), my luggage arrived intact and on time, and I even got two days of sunny 80 degree weather to enjoy.
My fantastically adorable nephew managed to pout at me for at least the first full day. He was not so happy when Mom surprised him with Aunt Amanda instead of the famed ‘Da Da’.
After Caiden decided that I wasn’t the enemy, and I that I would help him turn around his shopping cart, give encouragement for the little magnet game, and even had long ties on my hoodie to play with, we had a very nice weekend. Brian even made a special trip so we could throw some snap-crackers, watch some growing snakes, and sparkle with some Morning Glories for the 4th of July. We also had some watermelon at the poor-excuse for a jazz fest, but it was good watermelon.
Nom nom nom!
All of us went to a very cool manicured garden on Bainbridge Island called the Bloedel Reserve.
The ferry rides, to and from Bainbridge, were fun and included some really strong winds at no additional cost. Bonus!
Lisa and Caiden took me to the Snoqualmie Falls, and we even hiked to the bottom and back up! Thanks Lisa for the great time!
For the finale, Brian and I hiked 7 ½ hours at Mt. St. Helen’s. It was fantastic, and I saw every type of volcanic rock that I could imagine. When we got there, the volcano was covered in fog, of course, but as the day continued, the clouds moved away enough so we got to see the new summit. It is amazing that 30 years after the eruption, that the land is still relatively barren.
Thank you, Brian, Lisa, and Caiden for a great visit.
