Some of you know that I have officially transitioned to working from home full time up until the baby comes. My manager has been really cool and supportive of this plan which has totally made a huge difference! And now I don't have to panic about my water breaking while I'm at work. :D
I thought I'd share some of my observations from this week so far of the pros and cons of working from home exclusively:
Advantages of working from home
- Two words: comfy pants
- Private bathroom
- I don't have to walk for miles to get to the kitchen to get water/beverages
- Peace and quiet -or- I can blare my music if I so choose
- Easier to focus/concentrate on work; generally can get more done
- More time with the cats - can catch cute moments like this:
(this never happens with these two)
- Sleep in later
- Zero commute time + no dealing with idiot drivers/traffic = Woo Hoo!
- I can get extra things done around the house (when I can find the motivation that is)
- If I need to take a nap, I can
- I have time to make a hot breakfast!
- I get to burn nice smelling candles
Disadvantages of working from home
- My butt hurts from sitting in the dining room chairs all day
- No one to bounce ideas off of
- Get to see the cat puke as it happens instead of coming home to a surprise (but this means I can also put away the food so he doesn't keep gorging himself)
- Very limited social interaction (this leads me to begging Brian to wait before going to the store to get more cat food so that I can go with him and get out of the house)
- Missing the cafeteria and picking out lunch on a whim
- TV distraction, tho I've been pretty good about leaving it off unless I am specifically taking a break
- I tend to sit for longer periods of time - need to walk a bit more
- Danger of staying indoors all day - don't think to step outside and enjoy a nice day
- Tendency to graze on food...even if I'm not hungry. Ooo - is that a cookie?

One of the advantages for me is that you are posting on your blog a lot :-)
