Last night B and I headed out to Babies 'R' Us and started our registry. It was kind of weird wandering around the store and seeing just how much stuff we're gonna need for this kid! And we didn't even get everything covered!!! But it felt good to get this task started - I've been putting it off and putting it off because I felt so overwhelmed and just didn't know where to begin or how to figure what we'd need. As I've mentioned to a few of you, planning our wedding was a snap for me. I never felt stressed or lost during that process. Baby stuff however, is like a foreign world to me! Fortunately, one of the books I've been reading on and off, Baby Bargains 2007, has been very helpful in giving ideas and recommendations and made a big difference in narrowing down the millions of options out there. Talking to a couple of moms has made a big difference too!I'm also becoming a big fan of eBay and Craigslist. Those sites are rather addictive what with all the inventory that changes so quickly! There are some great deals to be found on strollers and furniture. It's just a matter of finding the right thing at the right time. But one thing I absolutely will NOT buy used is a car seat. Sure, the seller may say it's never been in an accident, but you'd never know for sure. I'm not risking my child's safety in order to save a few bucks.
Setting up the registry has been fun - now that we've finally gotten out there! And the feelings of being overwhelmed dissipated pretty quickly as we made our rounds throughout the store. Whew! Watch out Target - you're next!
