I swear my cat is learning English

As far as cats go, mine haven't always exactly been the brightest of the bunch. However, Sienna seems to be bucking the trend lately.

So we've got this little ritual. She always hangs out in the bathroom with me while I'm getting ready for bed. I can call out "bathroom time Sienna!" from upstairs and she'll come running up to me making little chriping noises as she goes. She also gets upset if she is faced with a closed door. She'll usually paw at the door and cry until she is let in.

Last night was no exception. I mistakenly closed the bathroom door without inviting her upstairs. While I was washing my face, she starts her pawing and crying at the door. She started getting a little fiesty and Brian told her to knock it off. A few moments later I open the door to find her laying on the floor a couple feet from the bathroom. Our conversation went something like this:

Me: Come on in to the bathroom Sienna (holds the door open and gestures towards bathroom)
Sienna: (half lidded stare)
Me: Come on - it's bathroom time! (gesutres again towards bathroom)
Sienna: (half lidded stare)
Me: Sienna - are you coming in or not?
Sienna: Mer. (a short, clipped meow)
Me: Come on Sienna. Come into the bathroom.
Sienna: Mer.
Me: Are you mad at me for ignoring you? Is that why you won't come in?
Sienna: Err-ow.
Me: Ok - I'm sorry.
Sienna: Mer.
Me: I'm sorry I didn't invite you in and that you were locked out. Will you come in the bathroom now?
Sienna: Mew.

She then GOT UP AND CAME INTO THE BATHROOM!!!!

I swear I am not making this up. I am convinced she was waiting for me to apologize. It was just a damn weird experience.
