I was a little nervous that he wouldn't like wearing it. It's a little bulky, and he doesn't always like wearing hats. But I needn't have worried! He had no problem wearing his costume for several hours at a time!
On Oct 17th, we had our monthly PEPS gathering and met over at Heather and Andrew's house for a Halloween party for the kiddos. B and I were the only one's crazy enough to don costumes as well. :) It was a fun party and great seeing all the kids again. Everyone is growing up so quickly! Caiden had the best time playing with all of Sebastian's toys which kept him busy for pretty much the entire party. That's also when we started referring to him simply as "The Spider." Hee!
Then during the week of Halloween, we had 3 days in a row of costume wearing. First was on Thursday for The Spider's Kindermusik class. A few of the other kids were also dressed up. One little boy was a monkey, and as soon as The Spider saw him, he ran over and started shouting "ah ah!" which is his way of making monkey sounds. :)
On Friday, my chiropractor had his office all decorated and was also dressed up himself. Since we were going directly to B's office party afterward, I had The Spider all dressed and myself in costume as well. The Spider was a hit and had a merry old time running around the office checking out all the things he normally doesn't get to touch since he is usually strapped in to his stroller!
B's office put on a really nice party! B dressed up as a 1920s era paper boy and a bunch of other people in his office got dressed up too. I made some spider cupcakes to share and they were well liked by all the kids!
Finally, on Saturday we met up with my friend Lisa and her family at Crossroad's Mall for their Halloween event. It started off with a parade around the mall and then the kids got to trick or treat at each of the stores. The coolest thing The Spider got was a book from the library branch in the mall. How neat is that!? It wasn't long before The Spider understood that he was getting candy in his pumpkin bucket and got plenty upset when we took it away from him. *sigh* Looks like the mystery of candy has been uncovered. We hung out with Lisa for awhile and listened to the musicians they brought in for the event. The Spider had great fun running around, doing some dancing and using Daddy as a jungle gym. He got lots of attention from kids and adults alike cooing over how adorable he looked. I even spotted a few people taking pictures and videoing him! LOL! I think his biggest fans were older ladies who would fuss over him and pretend to be scared of him. So cute!
It was a fun afternoon/evening, but I think we were all a little overwhelmed by all of the excitement and the crowds. We headed home around 7pm and settled in for yet another Halloween evening of precisely zero trick or treaters. It'll be fun to see what Caiden things of the whole Halloween extravaganza next year! Gotta start planning those costumes!
