I Have an 18 Month Old?

Seriously? How is that even possible?! Damn you, Time, and your insatiable need to rush right by while I'm busy living and enjoying life!

At 6 mos Caiden was 17 lbs and 27.5 inches tall. He had just mastered sitting up and was totally rocking those adorable curls.

Now, our little man is 26 lbs and 34 inches tall! He is walking like a pro, follows directions, walks backwards to pull a toy, can manage stairs (up and down), loves going down slides by himself (usually on his tummy feet first), can feed himself pretty well with utensils, LOVES to vacuum, will clean up after himself when he spills without being asked, likes to shuck off his shoes, LOVES to read, and is ever increasing both his vocal and signing vocabularies. I'm seriously losing track of all the things he can say/sign. Some more recent words include: cous cous, go, shoe, teeth, leaves, pot, and duck. Some recent signs include: toy, pumpkin, bath, and blowing kisses. I know there are for sure more, but like I said - I'm losing track.

Funny story to share around the word go. A few weeks ago, I was running errands with Caiden around town. We were waiting in a line of cars to make turns out of a parking lot. The car at the head of the line (2 or 3 in front of me) was taking her sweet cautious time making a right turn. She missed countless openings and traffic was really starting to back up behind her. I was getting suitably annoyed and started shouting GO!!!! Then I would sigh very loudly in a frustrated manner. After going thru this routine a few times, I started hearing behind me: "GO!!! ahhhrgh" So then I'd repeat it, and Caiden would parrot me again! He sounded so cute mimicking me that all I could do was start laughing. It's a good thing that my expression of frustration was so tame!

I also adore the fact that he is turning into an insatiable reader. He spends a lot of time during his day sitting down and looking at his books. He will often settle himself in the red floor chair we have or sit down at his little table and page thru his books. He also likes to hand me books and then walk over to the couch and pat/point to the cushion to tell me that he wants me to sit and read him books. I will do anything I can to continue encouraging his love of reading! I tell him often how much I love reading to him and hope that he continues to enjoy reading.
