Where Does the Time Go?

My sister, Tara and her daughter Christina came up from hot and dry AZ to visit us here in warm and sunny Seattle the weekend before last. (I can't believe it's already been nearly a week since I dropped them off at the airport!) We had SO much fun while they were here and loved showing them all around the Seattle area. Best of all, they got to meet Caiden at long last. :D

We kept plenty busy, and time being the evil thing it is, passed by all too quickly. One of the many highlights of the weekend was our loooooooooooooooooooooong hike at Mt. Rainier National Park. We decided to give the Green Lake trail a try. It was only 2hrs according to the guidebook and offered gorgeous views once you got to the top. Or so we've heard. :P What I didn't realize was how much the washed out road was going to affect us. Thing is, the trail is a 2hr hike from the head of the trail. Not so much a 2hr hike when you have to WALK 3 MILES just to GET to the trail head. Yeah, didn't really understand how long that would take until we started walking. Thank god we had the foresight to eat our lunch first. So what started as a 2 hour hike turned into a 6 hour tour. But we still had lots of fun and made it up half of the trail and saw the beautiful Ranger Falls. And there were some stunning photo ops of Mt. Rainier on our drive back which certainly made it all the more worth the trek. Caiden did really well for such a long day out, tho Brian's back and shoulders would beg to differ. :P Somehow, I wasn't hurting too bad the next day, but poor Christina and Tara were feeling a lot of the burn.









We also did some sightseeing in Seattle which included tours of Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, and Kerry Park. We again had gorgeous weather for our day in Seattle which made the day all the more enjoyable. Later that night, we played some games and introduced Tara and Christina to Give Me the Brain. I am pleased to report we have another GMtB convert! :D
