I Heart Gaelic Storm

Another fun weekend to put in the books!

I'd actually say this weekend started early as I spent the week down in LA. Normally I'm not a huge fan of the place, but this trip was made extra special as I had the chance to catch up with an old friend from NU. Eric and I hadn't seen each other or really had the chance to talk in nearly 7 years!! I can hardly believe so much time had passed! We got together for drinks one night and dinner the following evening. I had so much fun just hanging out and talking.

I got back Friday afternoon and took it nice and easy that night. Saturday I made sure to sleep in as I was headed over to Clea's that night for a slumber party.
Kristi and I spent the night over at Clea's where there was plenty of wine, laughter and card games. I've got a couple new converts to Spite and Malice and Phase 10. Woo hoo!

Sunday morning Brian got up way early to get in line at Target where he managed to score us a brand new Nintendo Wii!! Apparently, we're gonna get good use out of this console as I seem to only buy a new gaming system once every 20 years. Yes - I still have my good ol' NES complete with Super Mario Bros and Zelda!!

Sunday afternoon we spent a little while at Pike Place Market and I finally put my order in for a girly version of the Utilikilt. I can't wait to get it! Should have it by this Saturday. After we got home, of course we busted out the new toy and started playing. Keep in mind we had plans that night for meeting Rob and Anastasia for Rob's birthday and a trip on the dinner train. Brian was pretty sure the train departed the Renton depot at 7:30. Around 4:30 I jumped online to check some details for our evening trip. Imagine my panic when I read that the dinner train schedule for Sunday had the train leaving at 5:30!!!! It's a half hour drive to Renton, neither one of us were showered yet and "check in" was at 5!!! Miraculously, we managed to pull ourselves together and jump in the car. We were parked and walking to the train at 5:20. Whew!!!

Dinner was fantastic and catching up with Rob and Anastasia was much needed.

We hardly see those guys anymore! And lucky for us, since the train was earlier than we thought, we managed to catch the 2nd set of the Gaelic Storm show up at the Tractor Tavern in Ballard!!! I was SO psyched!!!!! I haven't seen those guys play since St. Pat's day 2006 in Chicago!!!! GS rarely gets up to the Pacific Northwest and the last time they were here was when we were in Cancun in October. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll get out here a little more often than once a year every few years!!
